About Us
Good food should never go to waste.
We came together as a team after seeing how much perfectly good food ends up in garbage bins, and eventually, in landfills. Across the Caribbean, many food retailers, from bakeries and supermarkets to restaurants and produce vendors, often find themselves with surplus food they can’t sell once it’s past its “best by” date or when the quality has diminished (think day-old bread or pastries). Without an easy way to sell this surplus, retailers have little choice but to throw it away, along with all the time, effort, and ingredients that went into making it.
We learned what food rescue experts around the world have been saying for years:
Redistributing surplus food is one of the simplest and most effective ways to fight both food waste and food insecurity.
It’s also one of the fastest ways to cut methane emissions. Food that breaks down in landfills releases methane, a powerful greenhouse gas. By keeping food out of our landfills, we keep that methane out of our atmosphere.
So, every bit of food we save from the bin helps fight climate change, supports people who need it, and strengthens our food systems.
At Fed Up Caribbean, we’re deeply committed to building a culture that values food and wastes less. We know that change begins with awareness, so that’s why we also invest time in education, outreach, and community engagement.
We hope for a future where no one has to worry about their next meal, and where businesses know that throwing food away should never be an option.
